The Super Eagles of Nigeria faced a Humiliating defeat against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic in a highly anticipated match at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Biogny Stadium, in Benin.
Jerrymusa.com reports that the Super Eagles scored early in the 27th minute as Onyedika strikes and found the back of the net to give the Eagles the lead.
Benin Responds Quickly
However, the hope was quickly cut short as the Cheetahs maximized opportunity and scored in the 37th minute with a strike from Dossou to level up for the host.
The Super Eagles, charged up and ready to respond to the unexpected equaliser from the host increased the pace of the game and hope to find a goal just before half time.
But the Underdogs scored again in the 45th minute to take the lead and put the chance of victory almost out of grasp for the Eagles.
The second half stated with the Super Eagles in high Spirit as hope to Equaliser and eventually defeat the Cheetahs, but the host team organise defense didn’t give the Eagles a chance.
The game ended 2-1 in favour of the host and little to no chance for Nigeria in the next FIFA World Cup.
