Lebron James has signed a new two-year contract with the Los Angeles Lakers worth $104 million, according to multiple reports. The 39-year-old NBA legend had opted out of his previous deal last week, sparking speculation about his future with the team.

Jerrymusa.com reports that it was widely anticipated that he would re-sign with the Lakers, especially after they drafted his son, Bronny James, last week. James has expressed his desire to play alongside his son in the NBA, saying, “I want to play with my son, that’s a goal of mine.”

Lebron James New Contract

The new contract reportedly includes a no-trade clause, giving James control over his future with the team. “The no-trade clause means he cannot be traded without his consent,” a source told ESPN.

This will be James’ 22nd season in the league, and he will continue to chase his fifth NBA championship. Despite leading the Lakers to a title in 2020, the team has struggled to replicate that success, getting eliminated in the first round of the playoffs this year.

The Lakers recently appointed J.J. Redick, James’ podcast partner and TV commentator, as their new head coach. “We’re excited to have J.J. lead our team,” James said in a statement. “He’s a great coach and a great leader.”
