Nigeria has won more medals than other African countries since the establishment of the Africa Cup of Nations in 1957. Three gold, five silver, and eight bronze medals are among Nigeria’s total of sixteen medals.

Nigeria Stands Out With 16 Medals

Egypt took home the gold medal in the 1957 AFCON and went on to win seven gold, three silver, and three bronze medals overall.

There are nine medals in all for Cameroon: two silver, two bronze, and five gold.

Ghana has won ten medals, consisting of four gold, five silver, and one bronze.
