The Katsina State Police Command said it has arrested five persons who were found to be in illegal possession of AK-47 rifles at Kurmi village in Bakori Local Government Area.
jerrymusa.com reports that The spokesman of the command, ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, disclosed this to journalists in Katsina on Wednesday.
Based on credible information, our officers at the Bakori Police Headquarters, in collaboration with members of the vigilante, while on patrol, successfully identified and apprehended five suspects.
“The suspects include Abubakar Tukur, 25, Sharhabilu Dahiru, 20, Kasamanu Abdullahi, 20, Abdulrahman Shu’aibu, 20, and Sulaiman Sanusi, also 20 years old.
“All the suspects are from Kakumi Village, Bakori LGA.”
He noted that during interrogation, the suspects confessed they stole the firearm from the house of one Jamilu Lawal in the same village.
“Due to the level of seriousness of the crime, Lawal was immediately summoned for further investigation on the the illegal possession of an AK-47 rifle.
“All suspects are in custody, while the investigation proceeds,” the police spokesman added.
