The Federal Government has announced that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will soon lift the visa ban imposed on Nigerian travellers. Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, disclosed this in an interview with State House media.

Jerrymusa.com reports that according to Keyamo, President Tinubu and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan reached an agreement to lift the ban during Tinubu’s working visit to the UAE in September 2023.

“Following the high-level meeting, President Tinubu made things easy for us. We, as his ministers, have done our part and resolved all issues,” Keyamo said.

“We have done everything possible to facilitate the lifting of the ban. The UAE government’s announcement is imminent.”

The UAE imposed travel restrictions on Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo in December 2021 due to a surge in COVID-19 cases.

The lifting of the ban is expected to facilitate smoother travel for Nigerian citizens and foster improved bilateral relations between the two countries.
