Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky rejected the option of a pause in hostilities in an interview for France’s BFMTV.
Ukraine Not Ready to Relent
Jerrymusa.com reports that the statement made by him was that “Russia needs a pause in combat action like oxygen.” According to him, the purpose of the halt is “not to hold negotiations, but to replenish its military potential and train conscripts.”
In a previous interview for Switzerland’s RSI, Pope Francis called for the start of negotiations about Ukraine in the presence of international mediators.
In order to avert the worst and prevent further deaths, the pope claims that when someone realises that “they are defeated, that something goes wrong, one must show courage and begin negotiations.”
Several people saw his use of the phrase “white flag” in his address as a demand for Kiev to submit. The Vatican, meanwhile, cited the Pope’s statement that talks “never mean capitulation, but courage.”
