Russia hopes that Israel will decide to end hostilities in the Gaza Strip soon and that diplomatic efforts led by global bodies facilitate talks between Palestine and Israel, Russian First Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky said.
“Israel’s predicament is simply getting worse. Therefore, I’m hoping that the Israeli leadership will decide to implement an immediate ceasefire soon.
Boundaries Should Be Negotiated After Ceasefire
“Then diplomacy can succeed, potentially even UN diplomacy, the diplomat emphasised.
“Everyone now understands, the ambassador said, that at some point there would be a “mechanism of international assistance to the Palestinian-Israeli talks and solution-seeking on implementing the UN Security Council resolutions on creating two states established.”
“However, it is still hard to say how this will look,” he said. “Israel should, above all, agree to an immediate ceasefire at this point.
“Then, it will be evident what boundaries might be negotiated for international aid in this solution,” the diplomat concluded.
