Ukraine’s Terms For Ceasefire Deal

“As for a ceasefire, it can only be reached on a transparent international platform in the presence of countries with trusted leaders,” Zelensky said.

He expressed concerns that Russia might exploit a ceasefire to regroup and resume military operations. “This is why a ceasefire agreement would only freeze the conflict, not end it,” he added.

Zelensky also dismissed Orban’s suggestion, made during a briefing in Kiev, to announce a unilateral ceasefire. “I have been very clear about this,” Zelensky said.

Igor Zhovkva, the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, later clarified, “Such initiatives cannot be considered separately from other aspects of efforts to resolve the conflict.”
