The Federal Government’s commitment to promoting the partnership between Nigeria and China has been reaffirmed by Mr. James Sule, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy.
Sule said this in his message of goodwill on Saturday in Abuja to commemorate the Chinese New Year Temple Fair.
Nigeria China Relationship Span 50 Years
Jerrymusa.com reports that Since Nigeria and China have had a relationship for more than 50 years, the permanent secretary, through his special adviser, Aisha Bello, pledged the ministry’s commitment to strengthening the relationship.
Sule expressed gratitude to the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria for its steadfast assistance to the nation and ministry.
He expressed his congratulations to the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, the People’s Republic of China government, and the Chinese community in Nigeria on the celebration of the 2024 Chinese New Year.
“It gives me great pleasure to celebrate the 2024 Chinese Temple Fair, also known as the spring festival, with the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, the government of the People’s Republic of China, and the entire Chinese community in Nigeria.” “He went on. It is one of the most widely observed festivals in Chinese culture.
“The Chinese human capital development projects have had a significant positive impact on Nigeria’s culture sector, according to Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, President of the World Crafts Council (African Region).
“Runsewe stated that Nigeria is endowed with heritage sites that, if expanded, might rival the Chinese Temple Fair.
“He added that, throughout time, both nations have established strong cultural cooperation that pays off.
“He continued by saying that Nigeria’s past and cultural sites could be renovated to accommodate commercial, religious, and recreational activities.”
“According to Runsewe, Nigeria is rich in arts, crafts, and other cultural products.
“She also mentioned that some of the historical monuments in the country have been inducted into the UNESCO World Heritage List.
“It is crucial to note that, although China is the most populous nation in Asia, Nigeria is the most populous nation in Africa. As such, there are many similarities between the two countries.
“Nigeria has over 400 distinct ethnic groups, each with its distinct cultural quirks, while China only has 56 recognised ethnic groupings. Both countries are culturally varied.
“Nigeria is using its cultural potential to propel its economic development, just as China has used its cultural power to achieve so much growth.”
To benefit from their cultural knowledge, he stated, “This is why we must deepen our cultural ties with China.”
