King Charles has been diagnosed with a form of cancer. The type of cancer has not been revealed; it is not prostate cancer but was discovered during his recent treatment for an enlarged prostate.
According to the Palace, “the King started regular treatments on Monday and would abstain from public obligations during that time.
Jerrymusa.com reports that the 75-year-old Monarch remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible,” the statement said. “The prognosis and cancer stage are not being disclosed further.
The Prince of Wales was reported to keep in regular communication with his father, and Charles personally told both of his sons of his diagnosis.”
Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, who resides in the United States, had a conversation with his father and will soon be visiting the United Kingdom.
On Monday morning, the King arrived back in London from Sandringham in Norfolk, according to the palace. He has begun receiving outpatient care.
King Charles to Continue His Official Duties
“The King will continue to carry out his constitutional duties as head of state, including paperwork and private meetings, even if he will be suspending his public appearances.
“Unless his doctors tell him to reduce such interaction, it is expected that he will continue to hold in-person weekly audiences with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
“When the head of state is unable to perform official duties, counsellors of state may be appointed to act in the monarch’s place according to a constitutional system.
“Currently, Prince Edward, Princess Royal, Prince William, and Queen Camilla are included in that. As non-working royals, Prince Harry and the Duke of York are no longer needed.
“Additionally, Prince William has stepped back from public appearances for a while to assist his wife Catherine, the Princess of Wales, in her recuperation following an abdominal surgery that she underwent last month.
However, it was stated earlier on Monday that he would resume his official responsibilities later this week.
“On Sunday, the King was spotted visiting a church service at Sandringham. He strolled for almost ten minutes while waving to the assembled people.
More than a week ago, he underwent a prostate operation at a luxury hospital in London.”
The Palace said at the time that the procedure was for a “benign” ailment.
“It was during this intervention that a separate issue of concern was noted and subsequently diagnosed as a form of cancer,” it stated on Monday.
The King had decided to talk about his cancer treatment, according to the Palace, since he had supported several organizationsa that dealt with cancer while he was the Prince of Wales.
“In this capacity, His Majesty has often spoken publicly in support of cancer patients, their loved ones, and the wonderful health professionals who help care for them.”
He encouraged more men to undergo prostate exams, and he also made his prostate treatment publicly known.
According to reports on the NHS website, he was thrilled to have brought attention to the problem, as there has been a rise in complaints regarding prostate disorders.
“The public who are eligible for cancer screenings are invited to schedule an appointment by the Royal Society of Medicine, which commended the King for bringing attention to “how cancer is indiscriminate.”
“Please don’t be shy; the more information we have, the better we can help, hopefully, rule out cancer or, if not, put you on the most suitable treatment pathway,” the organization’s president, Jay Verma, said. In the UK, one in two people will experience cancer at some point in their lives.
According to the NHS website, “There are more than 200 different forms of cancer; the most prevalent ones in the UK are breast, lung, prostate, and bowel.
“The risk of developing several types of cancer rises with age.
According to UK data, those 75 years of age and older accounted for more than a third (36%) of all new cancer cases annually on average.”
The King was wished a “full and speedy recovery” by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, as were Speaker of the House of Commons Sir Lindsay Hoyle and Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer.
US President Joe Biden acknowledged his worries and promised to talk to the King. “Navigating a cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship takes hope and absolute courage, he stated in a post on X.
Along with the people of the United Kingdom, Jill and I are wishing for His Majesty’s quick and complete recovery.”
2018 also saw the deaths of Mr. Biden’s longtime friend, Republican Senator John McCain, from cancer, and his 46-year-old son, Beau, from brain cancer.
Following the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in September 2022, Charles succeeded to the throne, and he was crowned the following May.
“It is planned for the King and Queen to travel to Canada. in May and October for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Australia, New Zealand, and Samoa.
