Some Lagos State residents on Sunday complained of facing economic hardship which they said has affected their Christmas celebration.
jerrymusa.com reports that some of the hardship faced by residents include the rising cost of food and transportation, as well as the current cash shortage in the state.
Traders complain of poor sales
Some traders also complained complained of the “poor sales,” which they said were due to the country’s economic hardship.
One of the residents who is a widow said “Food is too expensive,” added that the economic hardship in the country makes it difficult for her children to feed well this Christmas.””

Some other residents also lamented that they could not travel to celebrate with their loved ones this Christmas period, due to the high cost of transportation.
“We heard that the federal government has offered a 50% discount on the cost of transportation, but the truth remains many still cannot afford the other 50%.”
One angry resident asked, “What exactly is the problem with cash? Why is cash scarce? Is there a new policy that says they should not give out cash? Why are we deliberately wicked to ourselves in this nation?”
The angry resident further pleaded with the government to “arrest this menace of cash scarcity immediately,” adding that it was an artificial shortage “caused by the enemies of the nation.”
