Temitope Adebayo, popularly known as Tope Maggie, a Nigerian chef, reportedly achieved the Guinness World record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, beating the previous mark set by Irish chef Alan Fisher by 59 minutes.
Oyo Affairs on Twitter (X) reports that Chef Maggie finished her 200-hour cook-a-thon in the early hours of November 18.
The video’s commentary read, “Congratulations to Chef Tope Maggie and his team for completing a 200-hour Cook-A-Thon, which came to an exact end at 3 a.m. this morning.”
According to jerrymusa.com The 200-hour cook-a-thon that Tope successfully completed to the applause of his fans broke Fisher’s previous record.
The cook-a-thon is believed to have begun on Thursday evening, November 9th, and lasted on Saturday morning, November 18th.
It took place in the Ogbomoso Recreation Club in Isale-General, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, which is just across from the LAUTECH College of Health Sciences.
Tope is still receiving accolades and party invitations while he waits for the GWR to verify his record.
Remember that Chef Hilda Baci, a Nigerian, was dethroned by Fisher just recently?
Tope Maggie is a graduate of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, where he studied hotel management. The “Maggie” moniker came from his mother, from whom he also gained an appreciation for the culinary arts.
Tope presently works in Ogbomoso as the manager of a restaurant chain.
