We are come to convey Mr. President’s greetings from Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he stated. And he has asked that I make a formal plea to the local traditional leaders to support keeping the peace in this region in order to maximise oil output and improve the nation’s economic standing.
The Minister said that the government is aware of how volatile the Niger Delta is. “And the Niger Delta must be peaceful for us to fully realise Nigeria’s economic potential. And according to the President’s policy mission, peace and security are among his top concerns.
There is no question that the traditional leaders and state governors would play a significant role in ensuring our peace and security. since of this, when we arrived today (Saturday), we began with the Office of the Governor of the State since, as you are aware, the traditional rulers come next in the hierarchy when discussing actual physical stakeholders in any region, He stated.
Bad roads leading to the south-east region
However, the Minister noted the difficulties associated with the Niger Delta region’s failing federal roadways, particularly the East-West road that passes via Port-Harcourt in Rivers State to reach Bayelsa, Delta, and Edo States, saying that “the road is gone and travelling to Port-Harcourt is a nightmare.”
In order to figure out the best way to build the roads quickly, he vowed to communicate with the minister of works.
The Minister reaffirmed Tinubu’s emphasis on infrastructure development and pledged to support initiatives to improve living conditions for Nigerians.
FG to rescue the situation of the bad road
Speaking on behalf of the Traditional Rulers Council, Mujakperuo urged the federal government to intervene right once, attributing the region’s poor roads in part to the high rate of kidnappings and instability in the Niger Delta.
The monarch also expressed concern about the high number of Niger Delta Development Commission projects that have been abandoned in various villages in the area, noting that nothing had come of the forensic audit that the Government had allegedly conducted on the Commission.
