Microsoft alleges email hacking by Russian state-sponsored actor

Microsoft has detected a nation-state hacking attack on its employee email accounts.

“The Microsoft security team detected a nation-state attack on our corporate systems on January 12, 2024,” the company said in a regulatory filing.

Some Papers were compromised During The Incident

Jerrymusa.com reports that the company claimed that Midnight Blizzard, an actor it claimed was supported by the Russian government, had access to “a very small percentage” of staff members’ email addresses, including those of key executives and personnel working in cybersecurity and other departments.

According to Microsoft, certain papers were compromised during the incident.

The company stated that an investigation is underway and that there is no proof the hackers had access to source code, customer support, or artificial intelligence systems.

Moscow has consistently denied claims made by the West that it was involved in any hacking operations.
