President Bola Tinubu has expressed sadness over the devastating explosion that occurred on Tuesday night in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Jerrymusa.com reports that two people were murdered and over 80 others were injured in the explosion, according to a statement released on Wednesday and signed by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Advisor to the President on Media and Publicity.
Actions of illegal miners are blamed
Sadly, the actions of illegal miners are being blamed for the blast’s cause. It also destroyed several buildings, cars, and other properties.
The President declared, “Those responsible for the unacceptable and careless actions that allowed the tragic event to happen must be found and dealt with.”
In addition to expressing sympathy to the Oyo State government and people, Tinubu urged all relevant government authorities to investigate the circumstances that led to the tragedy.
The President also gave the National Emergency Management Agency instructions to collaborate with Oyo State. The government should provide the victims with prompt and all-encompassing assistance.
Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, stated on Wednesday that initial security agency investigations had shown that explosive devices kept by unauthorised miners were the reason for Tuesday’s explosion that shook Dejo Oyelese Street, Bodija, Ibadan, the state capital.
Explosion Damages parts of Governors Office
