Stay tuned as AS Roma shocks football fans by sacking manager Jose Mourinho. Speculations rise: is 'Chelsea Next' on Mourinho's agenda?"

Jose Mourinho has been sacked by Italian side Roma after two-and-a-half years in charge, with former club captain Daniele De Rossi replacing him until the end of the season.

Jerrymusa.com reports that the Portuguese manager joined the Serie A side in May 2021 and won the Europa League in May 2022.

Last year, the Italian team was led by the former managers of Chelsea, Manchester United, and Real Madrid to the Europa League final, where they were eliminated by Sevilla on penalties.

However, Roma has only triumphed once in their past six Serie A games this season, ranking them ninth in the standings. Furthermore, they were just eliminated from the Coppa Italia by rival Lazio.

After that loss, he made a comparison to Harry Potter, possibly indicating that he still possesses the “magic” touch as a manager.

He was given a red card for the second time in the game because, according to the referee, he was “raising expectations” for what the team could accomplish.

The Club has to Move on

In a statement announcing his dismissal, the American owners of the team, Dan and Ryan Friedkin, thanked Mourinho for his “passion and efforts.”

Later, they declared that De Rossi, a player for the club for 18 years who made over 600 appearances and was born in Rome, would assume the position through the end of the current campaign.

“We will always have great memories of his [Mourinho’s] tenure at Roma, but we believe that an immediate change is in the best interests of the club,” the statement read.
