At least six people have been killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Mezzeh neighbourhood of Damascus, home to the Iranian embassy.

Jerrymusa.com reports that the station stated that one of the missiles struck a home used for regular meetings by representatives of Palestinian and Lebanese organisations.

Damage Caused by The Strike

Further report stated that the Iranian ambassador was present at the embassy during the incident but escaped unharmed.

Given that advisors from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) reside in the villas close to the embassy, Al Hadath thinks that an Iranian military officer may have been the intended victim of the attack.

On January 20, a similar attack on Damascus claimed the life of Yousef Omidzadeh, the commander of the intelligence unit of the IRGC Quds Force.

Three planes were involved in the strike, which destroyed a four-story building housing advisors.
