Israel-Hamas conflict: at least 36 journalist killed since war began

As the Israel-Hamas conflict keeps growing, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has revealed that at least 36 journalists have been slain in the recent crisis between Israel and Palestine.

According to jerrymusa.com reporters covering the ground are putting themselves in harm’s way, the group claims, because of Israel’s catastrophic air assaults. They have to accomplish their professional tasks amid frequent disruptions in telecom services and power outages.

On Thursday, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk revealed that at least 46 journalists had been slain and 531 had been arrested around the world so far in 2023.

In a shocking assault from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory on October 7, members of the extremist Palestinian group Hamas killed Israeli border residents and kidnapped dozens of Israelis, including women, children, and the elderly.

Hamas claimed responsibility for the bombing, saying it was in retaliation for Israeli aggression against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in the Old City of Jerusalem.

Israel has declared a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip, begun ground operations there, and begun air strikes against targets in the Strip and parts of Lebanon and Syria.
