The radical Palestinian Hamas movement refuses to free 40 hostages under the proposed cease-fire agreement with Israel.
According to a newspaper source, Israel has demanded that the radicals release 40 of the live hostages in accordance with the latest truce agreement in the Gaza Strip.
But Hamas noted that since the organisation no longer consists of forty-year-old women and female troops, it would first need to free Israeli male soldiers.
Hamas Ready to Release Fewer Hostages
Jerrymusa.com reports that the radicals are willing to release fewer than 40 captives but are unwilling to release the male troops who were abducted on October 7, 2023. They claim that this is the largest barrier to the ongoing negotiations in Cairo.
A fresh ceasefire plan that would be implemented in three stages was given by the parties to the talks, according to earlier reporting from Qatar’s Al Jazeera.
During the first phase, 900 Palestinian inmates, including 100 who had been given life sentences, would be exchanged for the release of 40 Israeli hostages held in the Gaza Strip by Hamas.
The relocation of inhabitants to the northern section of the enclave and the daily admission of 500 trucks carrying humanitarian aid are additional conditions of the possible ceasefire agreement.
On April 7, new ceasefire negotiations in Gaza started. Early on Monday that the parties had reached an accord on several difficult subjects, marking a substantial advancement in the negotiations.
