Tiktok video: our intent was not to offend Osimhen - Napoli

Tiktok video that was posted by Napoli’s official TikTok page and was perceived by many as a “mockery” of Nigerian star striker Victor Osimhen has been addressed in an official statement.

Osimhen deleted Napoli’s post on His instagram

After a contentious ‘mockery’ video was broadcast by the Serie A club’s verified TikTok handle on Tuesday, according to jerrymusa.com Osimhen erased Napoli-related posts on his Instagram page in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.

Since Napoli aired the video on Tuesday and later removed it, many online users have criticised the squad and requested an apology from the Italian team.

In a statement released on Thursday in response, the team said “Calcio Napoli would like to avoid any exploitation of the problem and would like to emphasise that we never intended to hurt or make fun of Victor Osimhen, who is a gem of our club.

As evidence of it, the Club politely rejected each and every offer for the striker’s transfer overseas during the summer training camp.

Osimhen is precious to us – Napoli

“Social media, especially TikTok, has always employed expressive language with a lighthearted and creative attitude without intending to offend or mock, like in the case of Osimhen as the protagonist.

The statement read, “In any case, if Victor perceived any offence towards him, this was not what the club intended.”

Before that, Osimhen’s representative, Roberto Calenda, said on Tuesday that they might sue Napoli.

But on Wednesday at the Estadio Diego Maradona Stadium, Osimhen scored as the team defeated Udinese 4-1.
