A nationwide power outage has plunged Nigeria into darkness, affecting all regions. The Electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) have issued apologies to their customers, citing a system collapse beyond their control.

Jerrymusa.com reports that in a public notice, the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) explained that a general system failure occurred at 15:09 on July 6, 2024, resulting in a complete loss of supply across their network.

“EEDC wishes to inform her esteemed customers of a general system collapse which occurred at 15:09 hours today, 6th July, 2024. This has resulted in the loss of supply currently being experienced across the network,” the company stated.

The company serves Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States, which are all currently without power.

“Due to this development, all our interface TCN stations are out of supply, and we are unable to provide services to our customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States,” EEDC added.

EEDC is awaiting updates from the National Control Centre (NCC) in Osogbo to restore supply.

“We are on standby awaiting detailed information of the collapse and restoration of supply from the National Control Centre (NCC), Osogbo,” the company said.
