Nigerian Reps to Probe MDA Involvement in Alleged Certificate Racketeering

It was a rowdy session on the floor of the Senate on Wednesday following the rejection of the move to include Anambra State in the membership of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Jerrymusa.com reports that Senators Tony Nwoye (LP Anambra North) and Jibrin Isah (APC Kogi East) argued over the denial.

Anambra Rich Oil Producing State

As an oil-producing state, Anambra State has been receiving the 13 percent derivation fund since 2021 due to a sizable volume of oil production, so Senator Nwoye made the case in his lead debate on the bill seeking to amend the NDDC Act to include Anambra State.

However, the majority of the senators who participated in the bill’s debate opposed Senator Nwoye’s claim, pointing out that despite being oil-producing states, Kogi and Lagos States are not covered by NDDC operations.
