The leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) have put their civil society allies on notice regarding their planned industrial action if the government fails to reverse the electricity tariff hike and conclude the minimum wage negotiations by May 31.

NLC Ultimatum

In a joint communiqué issued today, the leaders of the two labor centers gave the federal government and the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) an ultimatum to reverse the hike by the end of the month.

This comes as they reiterated their May 31 deadline for the government to conclude the new minimum wage negotiations, or face a nationwide strike.
