Nigerian Gvernment to Create 300 Direct Jobs, Boost Internet AccessThe Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy has unveiled a strategy called ‘Project 774 LG Connectivity’, to create no less than 300 direct jobs as the Federal Government deploy more jobs indirectly from the increase in digital access.
“It would link 774 Local Government Areas in the nation to the internet,” according to Dr Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, who made this announcement on Monday via his X handle.”
According to Tijani, the project is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” and the ministry’s strategic plan.
FG to Empower More Youths
“It will be overseen by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy and co-anchored by Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited and Galaxy Backbone.”
Jerrymusa.com reports that the project’s objective is to promote equitable development and public infrastructure access through digital means in government offices across Nigeria, including the most remote regions that were previously neglected or unserved.
“As part of our strategies to promote I’m pleased to announce the start of Project 774 LG Connectivity, which aims to foster inclusive development and provide access to digital public infrastructure in government.
“The initiative would connect all 774 Local Government Secretariats in Nigeria by utilising the @NigComSat1R and @Galaxybackbone’s current infrastructure.
“As we roll out across the country, Project 774 LG Connectivity will generate at least 300 direct jobs, and the expansion of digital access may generate additional jobs indirectly.”
He said on X account, “It is also in line with our Ministry’s Strategic Blueprint and is a major step towards fulfilling President @officialABAT’s mandate to provide effective public service to our citizens at the LG level.” The ministry launched the Three Million Technical Talent initiative in October 2023.
Its goal was to construct Nigeria is positioned as a net talent exporter and has the technical talent base to drive the digital economy.
The initiative sought to create a technical talent pipeline in support of President Bola Tinubu’s goal of two million digital jobs by 2025.
Some of the stakeholders, including fellows, training providers, partners, and placement organisations, will be involved in the program’s initial phase, which will be carried out in cooperation with the National Information Technology Development Agency.
