Nigeria Cannot be Fixed in Seven Months, Tinubu Needs More Time – Information Minister

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, has urged Nigerians to be patient with the reforms of President Bola Tinubu.

Remember that President Tinubu declared, “Fuel subsidy is gone” on May 29, 2023, during his inauguration speech?

He went on to say that the subsidy could no longer support the Petroleum Motor Spirit’s (PMS) ever-rising costs and that the money would be better
used to invest in public infrastructure, jobs, education, and healthcare.

Tinubu Proposes Leadership to ‘Prosperity’

Malagi said the president’s objective is clear: to lead Nigeria to “the desired prosperity” in an interview on Channels TV Sunrise Daily on Thursday.

“Remember that the president has only been in office for seven months,” he said. I will not offer any justifications. that seven months isn’t that long.

“But putting mechanisms in place takes a lot longer for a long-term plan. Of course, you will encounter shocks, turbulence, and occasionally dislocations as you plod along.

However, the president has a very clear vision: he wants to lead Nigeria to the level of wealth that is wanted.
“He puts forth day and night effort to do that.

While everyone, including the ministers, works daily in that direction, the results are still a ways off. We just request a bit more patience from Nigerians.

“I know it’s challenging, particularly when people are finding it tough to buy food because of these regulations, but the government is making a lot of effort to talk to them.

Malagi went on to say that the goal of Nigeria is to create a country that values merit and is safe, secure, and egalitarian.”

But he contended that Nigeria would have a long road ahead of it and that all that needs to be done in seven months is lay the foundation for the nation to reach its destination.
