The Federal Government of Nigeria has banned 18 foreign universities operating in Nigeria. Calling them “degree mills,” they issue a warning to Nigerians not to enlist in them.
Three higher education institutions in Ghana, six universities in the United Kingdom, and five universities in the United States were all impacted by the decision.
NUC announces prohibition
Jerrymusa.com reports that the National Universities Commission announced the prohibition on its website and provided an explanation, stating that the affected universities had been closed because the Federal Government had not granted them a licence.
University of Applied Sciences & Management, Port Novo, Republic of Benin, or any of its other campuses in Nigeria; Volta University College, Ho, Volta Region, Ghana, or any of its other campuses in Nigeria; International University, Missouri, USA, Kano, and Lagos Study Centres, or any of its campuses in Nigeria; and Collumbus University, United Kingdom, operating anywhere in Nigeria.

In addition, Tiu International University, UK; Pebbles University, UK; London External Studies, UK; Pilgrims University; West African Christian University; EC-Council University, USA; Ikeja; Lagos Study Centre; and Concept College/Universities (London) Ilorin or any of its campuses in Nigeria were included in the list.
The other universities are the campuses of Houdegbe North American University in Nigeria; the Irish University Business School in London; the University of Education in Winneba, Ghana; Cape Coast University in Ghana; African University Cooperative Development, Cotonou, Benin Republic; Pacific Western University, Denver, Colorado; the Owerri Study Centre; and Evangel University of America & Chudick Management Academic, Lagos.
