The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) temporarily suspended the issuance of new licenses in the categories of interconnect exchange license, mobile virtual network operator licenses, and value-added service aggregator license.

Jerrymusa.com reports that the Director of Public Affairs, Dr. Reuben Muoka, stated that the NCC acted in accordance with its powers under the Nigerian Communications Act (NCA) 2003.

NCC Temporary Suspension

This temporary suspension is necessary for the commission to conduct a thorough review of key areas within these categories, including the current level of competition, market saturation, and current market dynamics.

During the suspension period, new applications for these licenses will not be accepted, starting from May 17.

However, this does not affect pending applications, which will be considered based on their merits. Any inquiries or clarifications regarding this suspension notice should be directed to licensing@ncc.gov.ng.
