The United Kingdom, UK, Minister for Business and Trade, Kemi Badenoch, who arrived in Nigeria on Sunday on a three-day visit, will take forward ongoing efforts by both countries to boost the UK-Nigeria trade relationship and unlock new investment opportunities.
Jerrymusa.com reports that Badenoch’s visit follows last week’s UK-Nigeria Security and Defence Talks and the former Foreign Secretary’s August 2023 visit to Nigeria.
Badenoch to Meet With Federal Government
The British High Commission in Abuja’s Ndidiamaka Eze, the Senior Press and Public Affairs Officer and Communications Lead for Prosperity and Economic Development, made this announcement in a statement.
The announcement also said that Badenoch and Helen Grant, the prime minister’s trade envoy to Nigeria, would meet with representatives of the federal government, state governors, investors, and prominent businesspeople from both Nigeria and Britain while in the country.
She will examine present and future trade and investment opportunities, ranging from energy and infrastructure projects to education, during these discussions, the release said, with the goal of generating thousands of jobs.
Additionally, Badenoch plans to cement the UK-Nigeria alliance. eliminate trade and investment barriers, increase trade between the two nations, and make sure Nigeria has easier access to the City of London’s role in facilitating international business.
Dr. Richard Montgomery, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, called Nigeria one of the UK’s most significant African allies in remarks regarding her visit and involvement there.
