FIFA U-17 World Cup: Nigeria absent as Kick-off begins in Indonesia

Nigeria Golden Eaglets will not perform in the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Indonesia. After losing in the quarterfinals of the AFCON U-17 Championship earlier this year in Algeria.

Group B included Morrocco, South Africa, and Zambia, and the team came in second place with six points.

According to jerrymusa.com Nigeria’s World Cup hopes were dashed with a 2-1 loss to Burkina Faso in the quarterfinals. Africa will be represented at the youth tournament by the four semifinalists: Burkina Faso, Mali, Senegal, and Morocco.

Mali won the opening match against Uzbekistan 3-0, and Morocco beat Paname 2-0.

Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the 2021 tournament, which was scheduled to be hosted by Peru, was cancelled. Nigeria has not qualified for the event since 2019.

With victories in 1985, 1993, 2007, 2013, and 2015, Nigeria has more titles than any other country.
