The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Thursday a public holiday, extending the holiday to three days to mark the Eid-el-Fitri celebration.

Jerrymusa.com reports that the Katsina State Government also announced that Friday, April 12, 2024, will be a non-working day in the state so that workers can celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, making the holiday span four days for Katsina residents.

According to the governor, the extra day off was implemented so that state employees could completely enjoy the Sallah festivities with their families.

More Time to Celebrate

“His Excellency the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Umar Radda, has declared Friday, April 12, 2024, a work-free day,” according to the announcement headlined “Ed-Fitr: Gov Dikko Radda declares Friday, April 12, 2024, a work-free day.”

The Federal Government’s kind decision to extend the Ed-Fitr public holidays to Thursday, the 11th of this month, is commendable, and the Katsina State Government has responded with a declaration of Friday as a free day.

Malam Dikko Radda claims that his administration has also made this move to allow state employees to fully enjoy the Eid-el-Fitr Sallah festival with their families.

“Gov Radda then sends his best wishes for a joyous and tranquil Sallah celebration to the kind people of Katsina State.

“As they celebrate this year’s Eid, he also asks people to be security-conscious and to pray for peace to reign in the state and the country as a whole.”In addition, the governor asked the people of the state to prioritise security and to pray for peace to reign throughout the state and the entire period of celebration.
