Nigerian Senate may be set to recall Senator Abdul Ningi from his three-month suspension.

As he answered questions from reporters upon his return from the Inter-Parliamentary Union meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, Senate President Godswill Akpabio made this known.

Jerrymusa.com reports that after almost three hours of debate regarding his interview, Ningi was suspended for three months.

Difference in The Budget

In the interview, he claimed that the budget being implemented by the Presidency is N28.7tn, while the budget passed by the National Assembly for the 2024 fiscal year is N25tn.

Barely twenty-four hours had passed when Akpabio spoke. On Thursday, Ningi gave Akpabio seven days to recall him or face legal action in a letter issued by his attorney, Femi Falana, SAN.

Even though he hasn’t received the aforementioned letter, Akpabio stated that it is already getting the attention it deserves and that the issue will be handled as a family affair, and hopefully Ningi will return to take his seat soon.

“The decision was made by parliament. The mail has not yet reached me. Senator Ningi, though, is a fellow human. What exactly is suspension, after all?

“He should be joining us in a few days, I think. Thus, nothing is wrong. There would be a peaceful resolution. The Senate is like a family,” stated Akpabio.
