Around 80 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip as a result of Israel’s military operation in the past 24 hours, the embattled enclave’s Health Ministry said.
Jerrymusa.com reports that according to a statement released by the ministry, “up to 79 people have been killed and 86 injured in the Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours.”
The ministry reports that the Israeli attack in the Gaza Strip has resulted in 34,262 deaths and 77,229 injuries.
October 7 Attack
On October 7, 2023, militants from the radical Palestinian movement Hamas, which is based in the Gaza Strip, staged a surprise attack on Israeli territory from Gaza, killing residents of Israeli border settlements and kidnapping over 240 people, including women, children, and the elderly. This incident sparked tensions once again in the Middle East.
The Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City was the target of Israeli authorities’ harsh activities, which prompted Hamas to launch its attack.
In retaliation, Israel launched airstrikes on Gaza as well as certain regions of Lebanon and Syria and imposed a complete blockade on the Gaza Strip, which was home to 2.3 million Palestinians prior to the crisis. On the West Bank, there have also been reports of clashes.
On December 1, 2023, the Israeli army declared that it would resume fighting in the Gaza Strip and accused Hamas of breaking the ceasefire that had been in place since November 24.
Israeli aggression has resumed, and Palestinian authorities have placed the blame on the United States.
