The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) said Nigerians’ hatred for officers is affecting security in the country.

The National Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Mogaji Olaniyan stated this while addressing newsmen during the 40th celebration ceremony of the Committee held in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Jerrymusa.com reports that He described the narrative as alarming, pointing out that the hatred remains part of the factors affecting the country’s security.

Hatred For Police Alarming

Olaniyan, who condemned the widespread hatred, said the PCRC is fostering a permanent relationship between members of the community and the police in order to end the ugly narrative.

He underlined that in order to foster a positive relationship between the public and the police and eventually improve security across the country, it is imperative to overcome this ingrained animosity.

“We are calling for people to love the Nigeria Police, as this is what they lack right from,” Olaniyan stated childhood we have created enmity between our children and the Nigeria Police.

“Our home is the source of this hatred. To reprimand their child, for example, parents can threaten, “I’ll call the police for you.” We are working to change this narrative because it is the reason why our kids grow up to hate the cops.

Nonetheless, Olaniyan stated that there is a pressing need to address what he described as pervasive animosity towards Nigerian police officers.

According to State Chairman of the Committee Samson Kunle Popoola, the PCRC’s Ogun State’s security.

He reiterated that Ogun State is still the safest and most tranquil state in Nigeria and urged greater collaboration between the populace and the law enforcement to maintain this status intact.
