The Federal Government has placed the immediate-past Governor of Kogi State on its watchlist, alerting security agencies in the country and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) to arrest him at any entry and exit points.

This was revealed in a document sent to various security stakeholders, including the director general of the Department of State Services, the inspector general of police, and the director general of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), by Kemi Nanna Nandap, comptroller general of the Immigration Service.

Jerrymusa.com reports that the ex-governor’s international passport data were revealed in the memo, which was signed by ACI DS Umar.

Yahaya Bello Absconds, Evade Arrest

“I am directed to inform you that the above-named person has been placed on a watch list,” the memo states in part.

It is sufficient to state that, according to a letter dated April 18, 2024, with reference number CR 3000/EFCC/LS/EGCS.1/TE/V1/279, the subject is being prosecuted before the Federal High Court Abuja for conspiracy, breach of trust, and money laundering. He should be detained and reported to the authorities if spotted at any entrance or exit by the by the Director of Investigation, or contact 08036226329 or 07039617304 for further action.

“As always, please accept the warmest regards and esteem of the Comptroller General.”

Similar to this, Bello was proclaimed sought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday due to financial and economic offences.

Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello is wanted by the EFCC for offences related to economic and financial crimes totaling N80.2 billion, according to a statement posted on the organisation’s official Facebook page.

The EFCC stated, “Anyone with information as to his whereabouts should report to the commission or the nearest police station immediately.”

To effect his arrest, agents from the anti-graft agency stormed the former governor’s Abuja home on Wednesday.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo arrived with his security entourage and pulls him out of the EFCC’s reach.
