Israel will not end its operation in the Gaza Strip until the Hamas radical movement, which rules the enclave, is exterminated, Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said.
“We, the Israelis, will not end this war until we eliminate Hamas,” he said during a meeting with the military on the border with the Gaza Strip.
Hamas Will Sieze to Be a Threat
Jerrymysa.com reports that the minister promised that Hamas would no longer be in charge of the Palestinian enclave, according to The Times of Israel daily. But as he put it, “it will take time.”
On October 7, a surprise attack was launched by militants from the radical Palestinian organisation Hamas, which is based in the Gaza Strip.
The attack killed many Israeli kibbutz residents who were living close to the Gaza border and abducted over 240 Israelis, including women, children, and the elderly. This incident sparked renewed tensions in the Middle East.
Israel announced a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip, initiated ground operations against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, and bombarded the enclave as well as certain regions of Lebanon and Syria. West Bank residents have also reported clashes.
