The MTN telecommunications network is currently down as subscribers to the service find it unable to make or receive calls, while others are not able to make use of their internet through the network.

In response, MTN stated on Wednesday night that a “major service outage caused by multiple fibre cuts, affecting voice and data services” was the root of the network issue.

MTN to Resolve Downtime

Jerrymusa.com reports that the telecommunications company stated that its engineers are putting in a lot of effort to find a solution, with certain places seeing a slow restoration of services.

The network operator said, “We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and ask for your understanding and patience as the team works to restore full service as soon as possible.”

Remember that on or before February 28, 2024, the Nigerian Communications Commission will again order telecom providers to disconnect phone users who are not linked to their national identity numbers from their line.

He reiterated that telecom carriers still have until February 28th to block subscribers who haven’t linked their NIN to their SIM.

He continued, “To this end, on or before February 28, 2024, the National Communication Commission has directed all telecommunication operators to bar the phone lines of subscribers whose lines are not linked to their NINs.”
