“Those under sanctions are not permitted to enter Switzerland or transit through Switzerland,” stated Fabian Maienfisch, the official spokesperson for the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
“The ban on flights in Swiss airspace is not absolute and provides for exceptions for flights made for diplomatic, humanitarian, or medical purposes,” said the spokesperson.
Jerrymusa.com reports that nevertheless, exceptions may be granted by the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and the State Secretariat for Migration, he continued.
An instance of an exception may be if someone travels to attend an international conference.
