UCL group stage: Arsenal Crush Lens to secure round of 16 spot

Arsenal clinch their safe passage through to the last 16 as Group B winners with an emphatic 6-0 victory over Lens, who see their knockout-stage hopes ended with defeat.

It was effectively over as a contest by half-time, with Havertz, Jesus, Saka and Martinelli all scoring in a brilliant 14-minute spell, before Odegaard added a fifth in first-half stoppage time.

Jerrymusa.com reports that the Gunners took their foot off the gas after the interval, but Jorginho scored a penalty off the bench to cap the win in the latter stages as Arteta’s men cruised through with a game to spare.

The result is a fatal one for Lens’ chances of progression, and they will look to bounce back when they host Lyon in Ligue 1 on Saturday, while Arsenal will welcome Wolves in the Premier League the same day.

That is all we have for you from the Emirates Stadium, so thanks for your company and goodbye!
