Why Tinubu renamed the ministry of communication and culture

President Bola Tinubu renamed the Ministry of Information and Culture to the Ministry of Information and National Orientation, and Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris has explained.

Sense of Nationality

According to Idris, the name change was made to help Nigerians rediscover their sense of national identity. He claimed that the president had assigned him this assignment.

He continued by saying that Tinubu had also given him the responsibility to advance the administration’s key ideals of nationalism, integrity, and openness. In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja, he revealed this.

He declared, “President Bola Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ is to raise Nigeria to an enviable height among the council of nations and transform the unfavourable perception of the country.

Nigeria to regain sense of purpose

He gave me the task of ensuring that Nigerians are reoriented during the short time that we will be here, so that, at the very least, we can regain our sense of purpose as a country and start moving in the right direction.

It’s a huge challenge. You are aware that moral degradation affects all socioeconomic classes in the nation, not just young people.

“I believe this was the driving force behind the president’s decision to rename the Ministry of Information and Culture to the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

Characteristics of patriotism

According to jerrymusa.com Idris interpreted this as the president wanting to prioritise matters related to orientation and reorientation.

The characteristics of patriotism, honesty, and transparency, he continued, are just a few of the things Tinubu is ardently supporting.

He has given us the task of ensuring that these principles are promoted, elevated to the top of the agenda, and communicated to the majority of Nigerians for the benefit of all.
