Senate kick-start screening of CBN governor

-Senate kick-start screening for Olayemi Cardoso being considered for the role of substantive Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, and the Senate has started the screening process.

Senate reviewing 4 deputies alongside Cardoso

The Senate is also reviewing the nominations of four deputy governors for the apex bank. Emem Nnana Usoro, Philip Ikeazor, Bala Bello, and Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo are the candidates for deputy governor.

Following a motion made by Opeyemi Bamidele, the majority leader of the Senate, the screening process was started.

President Tinubu endorse Cardoso

Jerrymusa.com reports that prior to the Senate’s confirmation, President Bola Tinubu gave the go-ahead for Cardoso’s appointment as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Cardoso took over as interim governor of the CBN last week while he awaited the Senate’s review and anticipated confirmation.
