Yusuf Gagdi, minor setback in plateau Tribunal judgement

Yusuf Gagdi, a member of the House of Representatives who represents the Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency, has called the recent ruling by the Plateau State Governorship Election Tribunal a minor setback in the larger political landscape.

Fight for justice is far from done

Gagdi, who is also the chairman of the House Committee on Navy, highlighted that the election result was only one stage of the process and that the fight for justice was far from done.

According to Jerrymusa.com, the Plateau State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal confirmed Caleb Mutfwang as the state’s legitimately elected governor on Friday.

Alleged over voting in several regions

The All Progressives Congress and its candidate for governor, Nentawe Yiltwatda, had petitioned the tribunal to challenge the election results, arguing that Mutfwang was not legitimately nominated by the PDP and that there had been overvoting in several regions.

The panel had denied the appeal.Gagdi, however, stated in a statement on Saturday that despite the judgement being a little setback, it did not cause him to lose confidence in the legal system.

Despite the difficulties and problems surrounding the election, the federal senator urged supporters to maintain composure and show civility, highlighting the court as the last holdout of hope for the average person.

The legal system may restore justice

The election process, which will culminate at the Supreme Court, was continued by the judgement delivered today, the speaker stated. We trust the legal system to make up for any injustice that we believe was committed during the election that cost us the victory.

One of the three processes we have to seek redress is the tribunal’s decision. It was a modest setback that didn’t make me lose faith in the court as the last bastion of the common man or cause it to burn out.

The people patiently wait for next cause of action

I urge our supporters to remain dedicated to the values of the Generation Next motto and behave in ourselves with the utmost decorum as it is typically in our character while we wait for the party leaders’ and our principal’s positions on the next course of action.

“Save the very best for last! because until something is over, it is not over. We are hopeful that the appeal courts will produce a better result,” he stated.
