Nigerian Police Officers attached to the Rivers State Police Command, have reported a successful operation in which six suspected kidnappers were neutralized during a shootout at Obelle community, located in the Emohua Local Government Area of the state, South-South Nigeria.

According to reliable sources, the gang, led by a notorious individual named Uchechukwu Daniel, engaged in a fierce gun battle with the officers of the anti-cultism unit who had raided their hideout. The criminals opened fire upon the arrival of the police, prompting the law enforcement agents to swiftly respond in kind.

Nigerian Police Officers Neutralize Bandits, Rescue Kidnap Victims

During the intense exchange of gunfire, six of the suspects tragically lost their lives, while six others were apprehended by the police. The state Commissioner of Police, Emeka Nwonyi, revealed these details while addressing journalists at the police headquarters on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, during a press briefing held on Friday.

Although the police were able to neutralize six members of the criminal gang, Commissioner Nwonyi acknowledged that a number of other miscreants managed to evade capture and escape the scene of the encounter, some of them sustaining bullet wounds in the process.

In a separate incident, the Commissioner of Police shared information regarding another successful operation conducted by Nigerian Police officers. Officers on patrol along the King Perekule Junction in the GRA area of Port Harcourt intercepted a kidnapping attempt and successfully rescued the victims.

“On Friday, June 30, at approximately 10:00 hours, while conducting routine patrol along King Perekule Street in GRA, our operatives acted on a credible tip-off and intercepted individuals who were victims of a reported kidnapping case,” Commissioner Nwonyi announced.

The swift action taken by the police led to the successful rescue of the individuals who had fallen victim to the criminal act. This operation serves as a testament to the commitment and effectiveness of the Rivers State Police Command in safeguarding the lives and well-being of the citizens they serve.

Commissioner Nwonyi further reiterated the police force’s unwavering dedication to combating crime and ensuring the safety of residents within Rivers State. He emphasized the importance of citizens promptly reporting any suspicious activities or providing valuable information to the police, as such tips greatly assist in apprehending criminals and preventing criminal activities.

The Commissioner also acknowledged the challenges faced by Nigerian Police officers in the line of duty and expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased suspects. He emphasized that the police force is committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that justice is served.
